Crochet Flower Rosette Brooch

http://www.instructables.com/id/Crochet-Flower-Bud-Brooch/

I love to crochet flowers and leaves but I tend to have not many ideas about what to do with them...so one way in which I use them is to make Flower Brooches using crochet designs and hot glue.

You will need:
  • ·         hot glue gun
  • ·         hot glue sticks
  • ·         fabric paint
  • ·         mini paint palette
  • ·         Mini paintbrush
  • ·         8 ply wool
  • ·         computer with internet connection
  • ·         7 mm crochet hook
  • ·         Brooch back findings

Embellishing
1.       squeeze fabric paint onto palette
2.       use paintbrush to paint along the 'edges’ of the rosette petals
3.       use paintbrush to paint along the outside 'edges' of the crocheted leaves
4.       wait for the paint to dry

Assemblage
1.       squeeze a strip of hot glue along a brooch back finding
2.       press on one leaf to glue it to the finding
3.       repeat steps 1 and 2 for the other leaf
4.       squeeze a blob of hot glue on the back of the rosette
5.       press the rosette to the middle of the brooch back in the middle of the leaves
6.       wait for the glue to dry

Symbolic/Sentimental Things I’ve Given Away 2

15/09/2013

Today I got caught up in one of my usual feelings that getting rid of stuff has a cathartic effect on me – also influenced by the fact that I was in one of those moods that something I barely used was in a better position of being loved more than I did.

So it was off to another trip down to Vinnies to drop off some things. Namely:

The gold studs that I had first gotten my ears pierced with.

The first silver bracelet that I bought myself as a replacement for my first bangle.

The blue swallow brooch that I’d bought in a tourist trap gift shop – was really funny that the shop was advertising that it’s products were made by local artists…in this case where ‘local’ could apply to ‘the world’ and can be bought online http://www.annekoplik.com/product/PN-BLU/PN5254.html
