my studex earring collection: diamond studs

Right now, the majority of my earring collection is made up by earrings made by studex as they’re both cheap-ish and good for my sensitive ears.

Much as I’d like to think that I’ve outgrown being over influenced by my fan girl-ism, it’s clearly something I can’t escape even though I’m not a child anymore.

After watching Black Swan starring Natalie Portman, I was obsessed with the idea of having my own pair of diamond earrings.

So I jumped at the chance to buy a round pair from my local pharmacy, but after a while I realised that I really didn’t like how they framed my face in that they kinda stuck out quite a bit to the side.

I was really chuffed when I discovered that Priceline also has studex earrings, especially a square pair exactly the same size that look nicely big and are also nicely ‘flat’ so that they don’t ‘stick out’.

Floriade Duck and Chilli Pepper Earrings

Last weekend, I went with my friend to Canberra’s annual tulip flower show, Floriade.

Ironically, the highlights for me was not the flowers but the free reptile menagerie that lets you pat the ‘pets’ there and the ‘rubber duck’ that was set up in their ‘duck pond’.

The other ‘highlight’ of Floriade ever year is their ‘markets’ which lets crafty people showcase their things for sale. I was in the mood for some pretty but unusual earrings, so after remembering that I’d seen this pair of glass chilli peppers at one of the stores about 2-3 weeks earlier at their nightfest, I finally decided to indulge in the urge of me constantly thinking about them and gave my credit card a good work out.

Priceline Haul!

Cotton tips are essential for cold sore care, and a small plastic tub for making lip scrub...

During my last trip home, I forgot to pack my travel mirror so I picked up this mini manicare one from the chemist near the bus terminal. Unfortunately it turned out to be made from relative flimsy plastic and so broke really easily when it fell off my desk and onto the floor.
so I figured I might as well get a spare...

Symbolic/Sentimental Things I’ve Given Away

Every so often, it seems that I get this odd urge to get rid of stuff that have some symbolic/sentimental meaning to me...

For a while I had been obsessed with the idea of wearing pretty sparkly flowers in my hair, so I’d convinced my parents to get me this hairclip at a hotel gift shop during our last visit to China. I soon unfortunately learned the hard way that there was no way it could stay in my naturally perma-straight hair….

I fell in love with these earrings as soon as I saw them at Myer, prompting me to ask my mum to get them for me for my 23rd birthday. I wore them at my birthday party to go with the blue dress I’d also gotten as a gift from my parents. Pretty much never wore them after that as I’d reckoned without the fact that my ears get super sensitive to non pure-metal (gold and silver only) and uber-heavy earrings…

Gorgeous starry huggies that were a gift from my best friend – unfortunately, there was no way for her to tell what kind of metal they were made from….

I am a sucker for all things rose and all things Guess – so I jumped at the chance to buy these during the Xmas sales…again, they fell victim to the unreasonableness life presented with the blue earrings…

I used to be way obsessed with Angelina Jolie, sword, and crosses, so I jumped at the chance to buy this pendant when I saw it was on sale in a catalogue…

Was also really chuffed when I later found out that she wore a necklace just like it…

I pretty much wore it to death, and then realized it had been sitting around like a lonely lemon for 5 years, when I figured that it should go to someone who might actually give it the love it deserves…

visual icon - kat von d

I’ve had something of a girl crush on Kat Von D ever since I first saw her on the Discovery Channel on Miami Ink. Not least because she totally rocks the hoop earring and red lipstick look that I totally love. What’s really awesome is that she also exemplifies my love of tattoos, art, Mexican culture, and rosaries.

I also love her iconic lightning necklace that’s known as her trademark.

Being that she’s a total inspiration, I’ve been totally obsessed with following her webcasts on what inspires her on youtube.

This obsession was started when I read her book High Voltage Tattoo that I got for my birthday.

I also love her latest engagement ring – it’s something that totally expresses her personality. Although there has been some backlash in the media due to her being proposed to via twitter, it turned out that it was actually really romantic as she met her fiancĂ© on/via twitter…
